MaAfrika Tikkun
MaAfrika Tikkun is a non-politcal, non-religious charitable organisation that works in 6 of South Africa’s poorest townships with the support and patronage of Nelson Mandela. The projects are characterised by community involvement and sustainability and they focus on care and support for orphans and vulnerable communities.
MaAfrika Tikkun Australia has committed to raise $800,000 over 3 years to fund one of these 6 projects, in Hillbrow, close to Johannesburg.
The project is designed to implement a ‘Circle of Care’ model for orphans and other at-risk children, featuring a community centre and care workers who provide care and support, early childhood education and development, feeding and healthcare support. One of the project’s key features is a move to a new expanded centre, where new kitchen equipment to faciltate the feeding program for these under 5’s is a critical need. http://www.maafrikatikkun.org.za/
